A rising dividend is more useful when you understand the business supporting it. In the watchlist, a connector maker is pairing larger cash returns with acquisitions, an engine maker is building its data-center power business, and an ingredient supplier is pursuing a bigger role in how food gets reformulated.
We also break down the latest payout raises and what funds them. In Dividend Stocks Worth Watching, you will find the business milestones and risks that matter beyond a single quarterly report.
Let's get into it.

GE Vernova Commits $9 Billion to a Bigger Power-Grid Business

GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) has agreed to acquire Trench Group from Triton Partners for approximately $9 billion, expanding its equipment offering for utilities building and replacing high-voltage electricity networks.
The acquisition would add specialized grid components and manufacturing capacity across North America, Europe, and Asia, giving GE Vernova more business tied to delivering electricity.
More Power Requires More Connections
Utilities face spending demands from data centers, industrial electrification, and aging infrastructure. Trench supplies equipment needed to support the transmission networks connecting electricity generation with consumption.
Adding generating capacity solves only part of the supply problem when you still need the equipment and transmission connections to deliver that electricity to customers.
A Longer Pipeline of Potential Business
Trench brings approximately $5 billion in backlog and framework agreements, with some commitments extending into the next decade. Together, they provide visibility beyond immediate equipment demand.
GE Vernova expects to finance the purchase equally with cash and debt. Closing is anticipated in late 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, leaving time before the businesses operate together.
(GEV currently trades at $877 and pays a dividend of $2.00 per share, a yield of 0.23%.)

Wendy's Receives $1.4 Billion Buyout Proposal From Trian and Flynn

The Wendy's Company (NASDAQ: WEN) has received a nonbinding proposal from a group including Trian Fund Management, Flynn Group, BlueFive Capital and Sixth Street Partners to take the restaurant chain private. The $7.35-per-share cash offer values Wendy's equity at approximately $1.4 billion.
A Buyer Familiar With the Restaurants
Flynn operates more than 340 Wendy's restaurants and serves as the brand's master franchisee in Australia and New Zealand. Its involvement brings experience running the business at restaurant level.
Such familiarity gives the group more knowledge of store operations than you would expect from financial sponsors alone, particularly when assessing the spending needed across the franchise system.
New Equity Would Leave Existing Debt Intact
The bidders say the purchase would require no new debt and would retain Wendy's existing securitization financing. They argue private ownership could provide patient capital for the turnaround.
Avoiding additional borrowing still leaves existing obligations in your calculation of the company's financial burden. Funding the share purchase and financing restaurant reinvestment remain separate demands on capital.
The proposal still requires due diligence and definitive agreements. An independent board committee would evaluate its terms, including the price offered by a group involving a major existing shareholder.
(WEN currently trades at $7 and pays a dividend of $0.28 per share, a yield of 4.00%.)

Marvell Looks to Lumentum for a Bigger Role in AI Connections

Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVL) is in advanced talks to buy Lumentum. This company makes lasers and other parts used to move information through data centers and communications networks, a source familiar with the discussions told Reuters.
Neither company has announced an agreement, and no purchase price has been disclosed, but the talks suggest Marvell wants to supply more of the technology that connects computers inside large AI systems.
The Spending Opportunity Extends Beyond Chips
Marvell already sells chips that help computers process and move information, while Lumentum supplies optical components that use light to carry data within and between facilities, making their businesses closely connected.
If you focus only on the chips doing the calculations, you may miss a large part of the spending: the lasers and connections that carry information between machines and help expensive equipment work without unnecessary delays.
Owning Factories Would Add Financial Responsibilities
Lumentum plans to spend hundreds of millions of dollars expanding laser production at a North Carolina facility, meaning a purchase would bring manufacturing commitments alongside additional products, customers, and sales.
Marvell had about $3.9 billion in cash and similar holdings in its latest quarter, so the payment plan matters for a potentially large purchase. Borrowing would add interest costs, while issuing shares would split earnings among more shares, so total sales alone cannot tell you whether the deal makes financial sense.
(MRVL currently trades at $220 and pays a dividend of $0.24 per share, a yield of 0.11%.)
Dividend Stocks Worth Watching
Amphenol (NYSE: APH)
Amphenol is putting its connector cash into a bigger payout and a broader product range. A new $4 billion buyback authorization starts January 1, 2027, alongside a 20% dividend increase to $0.15 per share.
The next milestones are the pending AdvancedPCB and Humanetics Sensors acquisitions, expected to close in the fourth quarter, and Dexgreen, expected in early 2027, subject to approvals and other conditions.
They add circuit boards, precision sensors, and fiber connectivity across defense, industrial, and communications markets. You get dividend growth and more ways to reach customers, but acquisitions compete for cash, and a buyback authorization does not guarantee purchases.
Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI)
Cummins gives you a different way to approach the artificial intelligence (AI) buildout: keeping data centers running when grid power fails. Its October strategy update describes generators designed to deliver more power in less space, with battery systems that could also help support a stressed grid.
The opportunity is equipment, installation support, and service over the generator's working life, rather than a bet on which chip wins. The declared $2.20 quarterly dividend is payable December 3, but do not confuse that income with an immediate growth payoff.
A Cummins power-generation executive expects the bulk of AI-related growth two to four years out, with heavier investment and more competition along the way.
Ingredion (NYSE: INGR)
Ingredion's opportunity starts with a problem you can taste: healthier food still has to feel right when you eat it. Its texture expertise helps manufacturers balance eating quality, ingredient labels, and sourcing requirements, a focus of its October product-development commentary.
The pending Tate & Lyle acquisition would broaden its capabilities in sweetening, texture, and fortification, giving customers more help redesigning recipes. Closing is expected in the second half of 2027, subject to regulatory and other conditions, so do not treat the benefits as secured.
September's dividend increase to $0.83 per quarter gives you an income component, but approval delays, acquisition debt, and integration costs are the risks to watch.

Campbell's (CPB) reduced its quarterly dividend about 36% to $0.25 per share from $0.39, with the smaller payment due November 2.
TELUS (TU) reset its quarterly dividend to C$0.1875 per share from C$0.4184 to support debt reduction, and the lower rate carries into upcoming payments.
